Bringing Dinosaurs to Life in Market Harborough

Did you know Leicestershire has a fascinating prehistoric past? Fossils from Jurassic marine reptiles and ancient sea creatures have been discovered across the county, helping scientists understand what life was like millions of years ago when much of the Midlands lay beneath warm tropical seas.

The nearby Rutland area famously became home to one of the largest and most complete ichthyosaur skeletons ever discovered in the UK — nicknamed the “Rutland Sea Dragon.” Finds like these continue to spark curiosity in young palaeontologists across the East Midlands.

Market Harborough itself also has strong historical links to geology and natural history through Leicestershire’s long tradition of fossil hunting, quarrying and scientific discovery. These local connections make dinosaur-themed learning even more engaging for primary pupils studying prehistoric life.

Our Jurassic Dig Journey taps directly into that curiosity.

Children become real-life fossil hunters as they excavate replica dinosaur fossils from excavation pits, classify prehistoric discoveries and explore the ancient world through immersive VR and AR technology. Dinosaurs appear right inside the classroom, allowing pupils to interact with creatures they have only previously seen in books.

Schools can even upgrade the experience with a visit from Reggie the Rex — our life-sized animatronic Tyrannosaurus Rex who always creates unforgettable reactions from pupils and staff alike.

A Roarsome Visit to Wellington Place Primary School

In April 2026, we had the pleasure of delivering both a dinosaur experience and a fossil dig workshop with the Year 1 children at Wellington Place Primary School in Market Harborough as part of our Jurassic Journeys programme.

The pupils explored prehistoric worlds, uncovered fossils and met our baby dinosaur, Trixie. The excitement was so huge that, after the session, we accidentally left Trixie behind at the school!

Thankfully, she was safely recovered shortly afterwards after becoming an honorary member of the class for the afternoon.

The visit was a fantastic example of how immersive learning can spark imagination, confidence and enthusiasm in young learners while supporting curriculum objectives in science and history.

CSI Investigations and Forensic Science Workshops

Our CSI Journey is one of the most popular STEM enrichment experiences for schools in Market Harborough.

Pupils investigate a fictional diamond theft using genuine forensic techniques including fingerprint analysis, fibre identification and clue investigation. Children work collaboratively to solve the mystery while developing critical thinking, observation and teamwork skills.

Explore the Human Body Through Virtual Reality

Our Human Body VR Journey allows children to travel inside the human body using immersive VR headsets.

Pupils explore organs, body systems and biological processes from the inside out before completing collaborative anatomy challenges, including assembling a life-sized human skeleton.

Complex science concepts become easier to visualise, understand and remember through fully interactive learning.

Journey Through Space

Take pupils on an unforgettable trip through the solar system without ever leaving Market Harborough.

Children explore planets, orbital movement and deep space using immersive VR and AR experiences designed to support science and geography learning objectives.

The session encourages curiosity, questioning and scientific thinking while making abstract concepts easier for children to grasp visually.
